Spring fever! Lots of great visitors from USA

6th April 2017

Catching our breath here, after a great sequence of Spring break trips to Ireland! We began with our regular visitors from Jackson College, MI, who arrived in the last week of February. One of our favourite moments of this trip was the reading of ‘The Stolen Child’ by T.J. Gilbertson, at Glencar Waterfall in Yeats Country. Ana made this great little video of some of the highlights of the Jackson Trip.

Jackson Spring Break Trip

Thanks to Ana Oancea and Jackson College MI students for their visit last February. Chilly but cheerful! Special guest appearances by Erdini in the FiftyOne MainStreet pub, Gerry from Guildhall, Derry and the very cheerful Niamh Hamill, who led the trip.

We also welcomed back our friends from Davidson County Community College in North Carolina.

Belleek pottery was a great hit with this group, as was Mullaghmore, in County Sligo – providing us with some awesome views of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Our Davidson County group was a wonderful mix of undergraduate students and community members, and we had a lot of fun with the music and ‘craic’ on this trip.

Next up, we had a shared program with Central Arizona College and Metropolitan Community College, Nebraska. These lucky students were here for St. Patrick’s Day, and joined with the local community in our annual parade, complete with vintage costumes provided by the wonderful Dark Daughter Theatre.

It was a very successful collaboration, and many new friends were made.
