Professional Development Courses in Ireland

As a new study abroad professional who has never participated in or led a short-term study abroad program, I found the CCID Fall Forum in Ireland to be experiential learning at its best. The only way to fully understand the impact of a well-planned and executed short-term program is by taking part in one, and that is what the Forum provided. By partaking in the same kinds of activities that students participate in, I came to understand how much can be experienced and learned in a brief period of time.

Thank you for the amazing experiences in Ireland that will last a lifetime! I have returned from our journey inspired both professionally and personally. I am so grateful to have had the wonderful opportunity to travel around such a beautiful country and meet such interesting people. This trip far exceeded my expectations and it was an honor to be in the company of such great leaders in education. Duplin County Schools is excited for continued collaboration with World View and our new friends in Ireland to take global education to the next level!

I hold a piece of Ireland in my heart! You and John have so much to do with that. You were excellent leaders, teachers and guides. Now, friends. My wheels are spinning about how to sponsor a group of teachers/admins to attend a week-long event at ISAI. My experience was so meaningful that I want the same thing for my teaching faculty and administrators. The presentations were so thoughtfully prepared and shared with our group prior to each field trip that I felt the history “come alive” once we arrived on site. The Institute’s broad-based, interdisciplinary approach to study abroad provides participants with holistic learning opportunities even in niche programs. As an educational leader, I was particularly impressed with the power of storytelling prominently displayed by the staff as well as by members of their partner organizations. I highly recommend ISA Ireland as a setting for transformative experiences for both student study abroad and staff professional development.

From 24th - 29th September 2021, I had the great pleasure of attending CCID Fall Forum 2021 with ISA in Ireland, in the company of Niamh Hamill and John O'Connell. In this connection, I got a good introduction to their work with International students, both with education in Ireland and their online programs. It was extremely interesting to see the International work from a new angle and Niamh and John have an amazing ability to combine the students' stay combined with the cultural part of Ireland and their amazing country. The way Ms. Niamh Hamill and Mr. John O´Connell approach such a visit for foreign guests is simply unique. They are incredibly accommodating and deeply professional in their approach and their work. Professionally, as an international educator, the Fall Forum provided me with an authentic glimpse at what these global experiences hope to achieve for our students. There are moments where your breath is taken away by the landscapes, your mind challenged by the complexity of history, your smile rejuvenated by the comradery over a good craic, and your spirit warmed by the care and passion ISAI, John and Niamh, had for this endeavor. ISAI demonstrated its ability to weave cultural competency through interdisciplinary studies and used our time efficiently and productively to convince us that their methods are practical, affordable and efficient.
