Nursing & Healthcare Program May 2019

30th May 2019

The Institute of Study Abroad Ireland exceeded our expectations on our May 2019 global health perspectives study abroad tour.  We traveled with 25 students primarily in the nursing and radiography programs along with a communications major and community members.  Our students learned about the similarities and differences among the health professions’ academic preparation and career opportunities when visiting St. Angela’s College and speaking with health care professionals during our lecture and tour of Sligo Regional Hospital.  The radiography students found it especially rewarding to talk with a clinical instructor while touring the radiology department that Niamh was able to arrange.  Niamh’s  lectures provided insight about social justice, history, and politics that affect us globally while empowering the students to learn more about other cultures. John’s passion for Irish history and culture exudes; he answered all of our questions throughout the tour.  Participating in the faculty study abroad program in advance of the tour facilitated our itinerary development; I highly recommend both programs.
