We had the pleasure of welcoming Bellevue College and Olympic College, coming to Donegal to do a Civil Rights study program in Ireland, all the way from Washington State. This lovely group of students included one returnee, the young Mr. Richard Shipley, aged 81 years! We were delighted to have him come again, and he was still showing up the young ‘uns for stamina!
This program was all about Civil Rights and Social Justice, and we enjoyed great and interactive classes, and field trips including the Famine Village at Doagh, Donegal Castle, the Museum of Free Derry and the Bogside Artists’ ‘People’s Gallery’ in Derry. We also engaged in a great service project with the local council, and our students participated in a beach-clean up in this lovely part of Ireland.
Big thanks to Professor Tim Jones and Dr. Mike Prince, and all of the faculty, staff and students who made this happen. Come back soon! Here’s some pics
