Criminal Justice Faculty-led Program with FVTC and PCC

24th June 2019

Congratulations to the students of Fox Valley Technical College and Pitt Community College who completed their Criminal Justice Study Abroad program with us this June.

We would also like to thank those that contributed to the program, in particular, Gerry McNally, President Confederation of European Probation (CEP), Assistant Director, The Probation Service, Ireland, Lindsay Bond O’Neill, Education & Training Coordinator, The Bar of Ireland, Deirdre Flannery BL, Marianne Dee, Professor of Law, LYIT, and Garda Yvonne Carolan and Sergeant Damien Gaffney of an Garda Siochana. The program was a very successful combination of classes and site visits that were relevant to the Irish Criminal Justice system, and some lectures and site visits that gave a cultural context to these experiences. Students also enjoyed some personal development activities including the unique Bundoran Cliff Jump – bravely executed by several of our visitors!

Both Fox Valley Tech and Pitt CC are annual visitors to us, and it was great to see old friends and new participate in the program – we have to give a mention  to students Luke &  Makiyah who returned for a second trip – and say they’ll be back again! We love that! Pitt Instructors Dawn and Cara are practically locals here now, and we hope that FVTC faculty Joe, Ray and Carrie will also become regular visitors.
