Our open trips are exactly what they say- open to anyone with an interest in these programs.
In 2018, we have a number of open trips. There are no pre-requisites, other than being an adult 18+ and being enthusiastic about an educational/cultural visit to Ireland. All of our programs are based in County Donegal, and our aim is to offer you an authentic and affordable experience, with an emphasis on local culture. These are not ‘touristy’ programs, you embed yourself in one local community rather than travel around Ireland, and you are more scholar than tourist. All are very welcome, you should also note that there is considerable walking & outdoor activity required, and that it rains a lot. But you knew that!
January 4-14 2018:
Irish Studies Trip & Conference
The Drew University Study Trip and Conference includes travel in Ireland and Northern Ireland, a major Peace Studies event in Dublin with guest speaker, Dr. Mary McAleese, four days of lectures, field trips and travel, and a three-day interdisciplinary conference in County Donegal.
June 18-25 2018:
Surf & Music Festival Week
Spend your first few days enjoying the Wild Atlantic Way as you enjoy lots of surfing (beginners welcome!), and some other outdoor adventures. Then enjoy three days of Seasessions, Ireland’s Ireland’s friendliest and fun music festival. Your ticket and VIP passes to all events included!
Sept 5-12 2018:
Photography Trip Land & Sea Scapes
This program is for you and your camera– we will take you to some of the most beautiful landscapes and seascapes, from sunrise to sunset. Your classroom time will include lectures on the history and culture associated with the places you photograph, and workshops on technique and craft.
Sept 15-23 2018:
Creative Writers & Poets Program
You are, or hope to be a writer. You are looking for inspiration from past and present Irish writers, and from the majestic landscapes of the Wild Atlantic Way. Let the landscape, culture and history fire your imagination, and our guest writers and poets guide your technique.
