“Being in Ireland exposed me to the complexity of the Irish national identity. Before coming to Ireland, I was not really aware of the unique regional cultures and perspectives that make up the nation. By living with Irish teens, I was able to see the world from their viewpoint, and my awareness of my identity as an American was enhanced by being one of the few U.S. citizen representatives at the Centre.”
